Bullet Candy Perfect

About

Bullet Candy Perfect is a fun shoot-em-up game, with sharp, super smooth 3D graphics and a cool techno soundtrack. The game is all about honing your skills to perfection as you attempt the perfect run! Check out the trailer below :)

Along with a host of score and power-up techniques, the game uses a tactical suicide mechanic that allows you to cheat an unpleasant death at the hands of your enemies and keep your bonus weapons and score multipliers intact.

To help you on your way to the perfect run, Bullet Candy Perfect keeps track of your skills as you improve with it’s Perfect Points system, and assigns a ranking based on your ability in game. There are also 20 challenging achievements to obtain, as well as a global online high score board.

Minimum Specs.

While i’ve yet to find a machine that the game won’t run on, you will need to have a dedicated graphics card in order to enjoy the game properly. It runs pretty slowly on my 2yr old laptop with an Intel GMA 950 chip for example, but runs full speed on my 4yr old 3Ghz PC, which has a 128mb nVidia graphics card. You can always try the demo to see how well it runs. As a baseline for decent performance i suggest a machine with at least these things:

2Ghz processor
128mb dedicated graphics card
512mb RAM
100mb disk space

needing a native Linux port, and the typeface choice seems to be not the best (creating one on fontforge or somewhere else would be interesting, or using a raster typeface instead of a ttf/otf)

    Hi,

There is a Linux version on the way…

    Cheers

I like the fontface… maybe add some fx to it to make it more “pop”…?

Will this version ever be sold on Steam?

  • By charlie, October 10, 2009 @ 5:09 pm

@Christian, I’d love this version to go on Steam, they haven’t got back to me about it yet though…

    Cheers

Weird thing happened to me: when the invincibility power-up reached the ship after it died and before it respawned, the ship respawned invincible (with the green particle effect) and without laser triple shot.

  • By charlie, October 18, 2009 @ 12:03 pm

I’ll put a fix in for the invincibility bug,

    Cheers

    I admire to your writing

That game looks awesome. Looks like a mix of Ikaruga styled enemy bullet patterns, the amount of bullets you would see in Frantic 2, and the awesome visuals of Geometry Wars. Awesome work, when I’m not so poor I can barely pay rent, I’ll definitely check this out.

I will try out the demo and buy if i like. looks pretty cool!

Your games are awesome. The only feature request I can make is that you make it so menus can be navigated and selected via the control pad as well. :)

  • By Charlie, November 25, 2009 @ 6:26 pm

Yeah, i guess i’ve been a bit slack with that…

Hey, so I bought Bullet Candy a long while back but never got around to truly giving it an in-depth playthrough until now, and I’m impressed. My question here is, what is the difference between the Bullet Candy I bought on Steam and this new Perfect edition? Is this a sequel, or a remake, or an enhanced edition, or what?

  • By Charlie, December 13, 2009 @ 3:45 am

    @Connor
Perfect is an enhanced version, tweaked levels, 3D graphics, new soundtrack, much improved score tracking and rankings etc.

    Cheers

I’m definitely buying this when the linux port is available!

  • By Danielgd, January 12, 2010 @ 7:14 am

I have just tried windows demo version and I want to share two thoughts:
    1. The Good: The game plays great.
    2. The Bad: It assumes my shooting axis gamepad is rotated 90 degrees. Could you make configurable axis selection, as is in Geometry Wars?

  • By charlie, January 12, 2010 @ 7:19 am

Hi Danielgd. You can change the joystick axis to whatever you want in the joystick setup menu.

From the main menu, click Setup->Joysticks. You can then click the little + and - buttons near the axis boxes to set it up how you like.

    Cheers

Any news on the linux port?

    Hi Michael,

I’ll try and get the Linux version out this week :)

When I click online scores in the game nothing shows up. Is there something special I need to do?

    Thank you. :)

  • By Charlie, January 21, 2010 @ 8:20 am

It looks like the scores server is not working. I’ll see what i can do…

Hi,I wanted to try your game with the linux demo, but it won’t work.
It actually segfaults after showing a black screen.
I can mail you the strace, or anything else, if you want (I believe that it tries to open a file, without success).

  • By Charlie, February 2, 2010 @ 1:22 pm

    hey mathieui,

Have you tried dropping the game’s folder onto your desktop and running it from there?

    Cheers
    Charlie

Looks very nice :) Your games make me regret not having a good graphic card (even Space Phallus is slow in my computer :( ). And thank you for porting them under Linux. As soon as i get a decent computer, i get it!

  • By Jonathan, February 4, 2010 @ 5:02 pm

    Do you plan a maemo (n900) port ? It’s linux with a good 3d gpu… :)

  • By Charlie, February 4, 2010 @ 6:47 pm

@jonothan, what would i need to do for a maemo port? I’m fairly limited as to what i can do with the Linux builds to be honest. If it’s just a case of changing the default screensize and buttons then it might be possible…

    Cheers
    Charlie
