    I love that synthetic voice.
    How do you made it?

  4. Posted June 4, 2010 at 9:51 pm | Permalink

I used the built in speech thing on my Mac. I have an applescript somewhere that saves .wav files of the speech output if you want it :)

yes, there are, however they miss that peculiar sound texture that sounds so cool and futuristic :D

Ah, well i think i probably used a reverb and/or echo filter in Audacity to get that futurey effect. They sound quite plain otherwise.

I started playing the Beta and it is an insidiously fun game. You are definitely evil and amazing.

    Can’t wait for the release.

PS. On many of the levels, I actually cried out loud a few times not knowing what to expect and freaking out at what was being thrown at me.

    Great job !!!

Looks great; just my sort of game (although I’m not very good at them oddly). This is just crying out for a Steam release with achievements. I have no idea how viable Steam is for indies, but it’s a big audience, and there are plenty of indie games on there already. Can’t wait for the release.

A great-looking title folks, played it at the Eurogamer Expo and thought you might like to know that I gave it a brief mention as a ‘PC exclusive of particular note’, in my write-up of the expo for the MSN Tech section: http://tech.uk.msn.com/gaming/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=154844360

Video looks like a great advancement in the Robotron / Geometry Wars genre. Looks a lot better than some random clone, all of which are still fun, mind you. (Can we say Grid Wars?) Since I lined here from the Blitz site, I’m curious if you’d mind mentioning more about the framework / technology stack you’ve been employing to code this thing.

  19. Posted November 4, 2010 at 10:17 am | Permalink

    Thanks!

I’ve used Blitzmax, MiniB3d, BASS, SQLite and some custom OpenGL stuff for particles etc. I use my own minimalist framework.

So, Will it be available on steam? Could be quite a large sales booster, and it would be usefull for steam users like who are waiting for your game :)

Charlie. You’re a god. I need this on an iOS device.

  26. Posted August 16, 2011 at 7:31 pm | Permalink

I find it more than slightly mad that some people actually want to play your games on Steam, as if that would actually improve the gaming experience rather than turn it into a miserable slog through constant updates, unreliable servers and forced advertising. It’d definitely be good for you though, since Steam has proven itself very good at getting games in front of players. Just don’t ever make a Steam exclusive or I will be very upset.

Anyway, Scoregasm looks awesome and I look forward to playing it!

Any updates on getting it Steam-enabled?

Btw, the benefits of Steam are:
    - to be able to play with your friends on Steam already
    - and voice -chat as a result of above
    - Steam overlay works beautifully
    - Steam is the biggest client with a 32mill client base so advertising will be effective
    - Many PC gamers don’t realise how bad the consoles have it compared to Steam

    Thanks

    Hi,

Where do you get the music for your games? : )

    thanks.

  32. Posted September 1, 2011 at 10:05 pm | Permalink

For most of my games, the music is linked from the game page. For Scoregasm, John will be selling a high quality version of his soundtrack with a digital booklet etc. There will also be a low quality sample pack i think.

    Cheers
